Overview
This guide explains how to upload transactions via CSV to your bank accounts in FaithFi.
Step 1: Download the FaithFi CSV Template
Download the FaithFi Transaction Upload Template.
Column names of the .csv file used for upload must be an exact match and order of: Date, Description, Amount
Step 2: Download online bank transactions
Go to your online banking and download your account transactions to CSV or XLSX file format
- If you have multiple bank accounts, download a file for each account separately.
Step 3: Prepare the CSV File
- Copy and paste the following columns from your online bank into the CSV Template. You only need the Date, Description, and Amount fields to create bank statement lines, but reconciling your transactions is easier if you include more detail.
- Date – For all dates, use one of the available date formats:
- DD/MM/YYYY (eg 15/01/2023)
- MM/DD/YYYY (eg 01/15/2023)
- YYYY/MM/DD (eg 2023/01/15)
- Amount – Both income and expense amounts must be in the same column. Show income as positive amounts and expenses as negative (-) amounts using a negative sign in front of the amount, for example -30.00 or (30.00) will evaluate as a negative value.
- Description – Enter the transaction descriptions. Descriptions cannot exceed 120 characters
- Once data is properly formatted save as .csv file
Step 4: Upload CSV Template to FaithFi
- Go to the app.faithfi.com/accounts to select the account you want to upload the transactions to and click the three dots in the upper right corner of the account
- Click “Upload CSV”
- On the Upload CSV screen, click “Upload CSV”
- Select the .csv file from your computer and click “Upload”
- Ensure the data is added correctly into the table, ensuring expenses are negative (-) values and deposits are positive values. You can edit any value in the table before submitting.
- Optional: Assign the transactions to the appropriate Envelopes and/or add Memos to transactions. Any transactions that do not have an envelope assigned upon upload will simply be saved as “Unassigned” so that you can assign it later.
- Once the file is ready to upload click “Submit”
- Warning: Uploading a .csv file to a connected bank account will result in Placeholder Transactions. If your account has not been connecting to Plaid, the account connection service, uploading a .csv may be a great option to keep the account up to date.
